I started re-watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls a little while ago, & I recently realized that Rory & Lorelai are actually really judgmental, pretentious, & if I may be so frank, condescending assholes. They always put down other people based on what they like to listen to or read or watch & seem to pride themselves on what they think are unusual or unique tastes.

If it weren’t for the fabulous supporting cast, their high & mighty attitudes would make the show unwatchable.

WOW I couldn’t disagree more and I’m actually offended by this. First of all, Lorelai and Rory are beautiful women with great morals, so much empathy, respect, intelligence, etc. If anyone is allowed to judge others, it’s them. But when you said that they judge others based on what they listen to, read, or watch you completely confused me. Isn’t that what we are SUPPOSED to judge each other by? Instead of gender, skin color, socio-economic status, attractiveness, etc. I absolutely 100% judge people based on their music preferences. I’m sorry but I would never be able to get along with someone who listens to pure rap or let’s say, opera. I will never ever ever ever ever want to be surrounded by people who don’t read or who only watch reality tv. First, if you don’t read you probably aren’t too intelligent plus it’s one of the main passions in my life and I just can’t explain this further. Second, if you only watch reality television, then you probably will make me want to vomit.

Please explain to me why judging someone based on their interests and preferences is wrong? 

And please tell me when Rory or Lorelai act pretentious. Please please please. Because it doesn’t happen.
